NEBRASKA CROP PROGRESS - 75% CORN AND SOYBEANS RATED GOOD/EXCELLENT
For the week ending June 1, 2014, precipitation of an inch or more was common across much of the state, however central counties received lesser amounts, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Alfalfa was being cut for the first time with dry bean planting underway in western counties. The number of days considered suitable for fieldwork were 5.6. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 8 percent very short, 24 short, 65 adequate, and 3 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 16 percent very short, 31 short, 52 adequate, and 1 surplus.
